The Climate

The table below shows the average climate figures.

Climate Details for Ovacik

An assured favourable time to visit Ovacik, the clement months of spring enjoys loads of sunny weather and high temperatures. April and May see the commencement of summer as high temperatures climb to a satisfying 25C, a little more pleasing than the coastal resorts located nearby. This is also an ideal period for visiting the attractions and many outdoor activities such as cycling and walking.

By the time June arrives summer is well underway with temperatures climbing from 25C to 30C within a month. Even at such high altitude temperatures never fail to hit the low thirties. The cooling mountain breezes however always bring a soothing relief to the resort as day temperatures never feel as high as they actually and the nights are cooler and comfortable. Rainfall is at its minimum throughout the summer falling in only light, brisk showers. The sun blazes down for thirteen hours a day in August as sea temperatures manage to rocket to 28C.

With September and October still seeing long hours of daily sunshine, temperatures during autumn are fairly similar to spring. September still sees high daytime climates of 30C whereas by mid November they have dropped back to 19C. Beneficially autumn is drier than spring, allowing a great vacation in October or November once the crowds have died and temperatures are still pleasing.

With average highs of 13 C and average lows of 5 C in January and February, winters in Ovacik are not your typical European winter. The period over winter in generally mild, however wet. The region receives approximately 1000mm of rainfall each year more than 450mm falling in December and January. There is yet still a great amount of sunshine during the winter months averaging at six hours during the coldest months.

Christmas is not an event that is celebrated in Ovacik but the New Year is celebrated and during this part of the year Ovacik is not crowded.  Ovacik is calm in nights but Fethiye has few bars and restaurants that are kept open during the winter nights.
