Things To Do - Excursions

Fethiye Market - Kaya Village

Excursion to Fethiye Market - Kaya Village

Attention all bargain hunters! Avoid the fuss of an overcrowded Dolmus bus and travel in comfort to Fethiye`s Tuesday Market.  You are collected from your hotel and left to spend your millions in the bustling market (remember to haggle).

Then we stop at the magnificent tomb of Amintas, which looks out over the bay of Fethiye.  Our last stop is the hillside ghost town of Kaya Village for a delicious BBQ lunch and a chance to explore the ruins of this Greek settlement.  Also enjoy a swim and relax at the restaurant pool before returning to your hotel.

Tlos - Yakapark - Saklikent

We travel through the un-spoilt Turkish countryside observing some local village life and seeing the people hard at work in the fields.

Our first stop is Tlos, which is one of the oldest settlements of the 72 ancient Lycian Cities. Climb the ruins at Tlos and enjoy the stunning view of the fertile surrounding plains from the summit. We also visit the Rock Tombs, Agora Theatre and Roman Baths.

After Tlos we arrive at Yakapark Trout Farm and there you can see the beautiful water gardens and enjoy a lunch served with traditional Turkish Mezes.

Next stop is the dramatic Hidden Gorge of Europe. This Gorge was formed throughout the centuries by melting snow. If you are brave enough, wade through the zero degree waters of the Canyon or relax and enjoy the many Terraces on the Canyon itself.

A visit to a Carpet Weaving Centre is also included in the tour.

Hierapolis and Pamukkale

Excursion to Hierapolis and Pamukkale

After a lovely drive through the Tauros Mountains passing traditional authentic Turkish villages and having breakfast on the way , we arrive at Hierapolis and Pamukkale (cotton castle ) which hits you immediately. Hierapolis is an ancient Roman city and was established as a cure centre in the 2nd Century BC.

After being destroyed by many earthquakes , we can only see what remains such as the city baths and an amphitheatre , which has a 15.000 seating capacity. Pamukkale is a famous natural phenomenon and lies on a small hill from where a great number of hot calcium rich volcanic springs flow.

For thousands of years , water has flowed from Pamukkale springs and naturally formed snow white terraces and pools cascading down the mountainside . The waters are bath temperature and believed to benefit heart and circulatory complaints in particular. After lunch we visit a carpet weaving centre and you can see how Turkish carpets are made.
